Additive Manufacturing

The only difference in sinter-based 3D printing compared to MIM is the shaping technology. Sinter-based 3D printing is a toolless manufacturing technology. MIMplus offers 2 different sinter-based AM processes (Cold Metal Fusion, MoldJet). For both technologies green parts are printed which are then debinded and sintered to get a fully metallic part - analogous to the MIM process.

An optimally designed component can usually not be finished conventionally. The only option here is to resort to an additive manufacturing process such as 3D printing. Depending on the requirements of the component (quantity, surface quality, material, geometry, etc.), MIMplus Technologies uses different 3D printing processes.

Sinter-based 3D printing offers various advantages compared to metal injection molding. We recommend you the optimal technology for your application.

The basic prerequisite for additive design is to separate oneself from any thought or experience of conventional with conventional manufacturing methods. So don't think in square building blocks, but shape your component as if you had modelling clay.  Let your imagination run free and ask yourself how nature would solve your component or construction project.

In order to get the most out of the process, it is advisable to observe the following design guidelines:
